Free Range Fridays

Free Range Friday is a new commitment by Gold Coast company The Farm, to create a space to show and share new ideas, to experiment, succeed, fail, laugh, cry, applaud, boo…

Actually, there’s no booing allowed…

Free range Fridays is a safe space, an open stage, a welcoming environment for any performing artists (dance, circus, music, theatre, etc) to show new work or trial new ideas in the making. Anyone is welcome to apply or turn up to watch and celebrate the extraordinary nature and impact of live performance.

Come along—watch, perform, or both.

Evening Flow:

  • Doors open at 5:00pm for the audience.

  • Performances kick off at 6:00pm sharp. (Doors are locked once the show begins, so don’t be late!)

  • After the show, stick around for about an hour—grab a drink or snack, meet the artists, or drop into the gallery to see what our current resident is up to.

Follow The Farm on socials or via our newsletter to stay up to date on exact dates for Free Range Fridays.

Interested in performing?
Free Range Fridays is open to anyone who wants to try something out in front of a live audience. There’s no curation—just send us your name and how long you’d like to perform (up to 15 minutes) at freerangefridays@thefarm.company.

Performance slots are limited, so get in quick.

What to know:

  • Works can be improvised or rehearsed.

  • Performances run 2–15 minutes (please stick to your nominated time so we can fit everyone in).

  • Artists can arrive from 16:00 and must be in by 17:00.

  • Keep set-up and pack-down smooth so the night keeps flowing.

  • The Farm provides two quality speakers, a small mixing desk, and standard studio lighting.

  • Most importantly: come ready to surprise yourself—and us.
