after an awesome time in 2017, we can't wait for another go.

sharing is profound and lacks protection

In the current arts climate in Australia, artists often find themselves at the bottom of the food chain. Hear some pointers from experts in the field on how to maintain courage and operate on your own terms.

“Their teamwork was amazing, their approach to the world inspiring, and their creative processes are mind blowing.

After they visited, I couldn’t help but brag and share my experience”

Join the Gold Coast’s first professional dance company in a two day workshop in how to be a farmer. No, we’re not talking about working a plow. We’re talking dance - Farm style. The Farm have a national and international reputation for making some of Australia’s most exciting dance and physical theatre and we would like to share our knowledge, enthusiasm, dance moves, improvisation, partnering and imagination in a fun two day workshop for anyone aged 12 to 22.

This workshop will be run by The Farm’s  professional performers onboard to facilitate a program ranging from improvisation to Farm repertoire in a supportive and engaging environment. It’s a great way to discover what makes The Farm tick and why our work has been seen all over the world.

GreenHouse: A Youth Workshop encourages and inspires students to be themselves and to find their own artistic voice. It starts with a warm up and investigates not only how your body moves but why. Trust is crucial so we train partnering skills (something we’re very good at!) to develop camaraderie and teamwork - hallmarks of our creative process. Improvisational games will develop the participant's own imaginations and challenge them to find their spontaneity. Finally repertoire from specific Farm productions will be referenced and taught to give a window into our reasons and enjoyment for doing what we do.

Hurry places are very limited so secure your spot at The Farm!

Yoga Chi Gung Movement

Yoga Chi Gung is a blend of teachings from India, China, Japan and Tibet mixed with the movement experience from The Farm’s Co-Director Gavin Webber. The class offers a way of unblocking life energy, increasing and condensing it and encouraging it to flow freely and smoothly. Like all internal arts, it works on catalysing self-awareness, mental clarity, emotional strength and stability, and physical vitality. It works on the systems, meridians and chakras in the body and is expressed through a fluidity of movement and the inner force of chi energy in the body.

Gavin Webber trained as a Yoga Chi Gung teacher with Grant Woolven in Brisbane and has taught yoga and dance classes all over the world. He combines his love of movement with the power and simplicity of Yoga Chi-Gung, utilising over 20 years of teaching experience, to create a profoundly beautiful way to wind up the day.

The Corner dance Lab 2016

Want to challenge your perceptions of what dance is with some of Australia’s leading dance makers? The Corner Dance Lab 2016 Expressions of Interest are now open!

Creative Director of Dance Integrated Australia, Philip Channells and Co-Director/Choreographer of The Farm, Gavin Webber established The Corner Dance Lab in 2013. The 9-day dance Lab is suitable for artists wanting to challenge themselves physically, intellectually and artistically.

Based in Federal in the Byron Bay Hinterland, The Corner Dance Lab attracts local and international artists from diverse backgrounds, different embodiment and life experiences who want to challenge themselves to work in an inclusive dance environment.

The Corner Dance Lab engages renowned teachers that will instruct daily routines, practice, ideas and experiments for an intensive program encompassing technique classes and improvisation to Yoga and choreographic practice.

The Corner Dance Lab promotes the individual while occupying a supportive participatory environment and encourages constant dialogue and communication to feed the artist.

Be prepared to challenge yourself to find out what it is that is unique about you and what you have to say. No matter what type of dance you are interested in, without knowing your own voice you will never be able to speak.
— Gavin Webber

For artists selected to develop their choreographic practice at The Corner Dance Lab, they will be mentored and assisted to realise the beginnings of their creative ideas. There will be an opportunity to show their work in progress at The Main Event showing.

Keep checking back as applications for The Corner 2017 will open soon.
