SHARING IS PROFOUND AND LACKS PROTECTION
DURING THREE DAYS IN FEB, NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL DANCE TEACHERS AND DIRECTORS WILL GATHER AT THE FARMHOUSE ON THE GOLD COAST.
BONES WILL BE LAID BARE AND THEY WILL SHARE WHAT THEY KNOW AND WHAT THEY DON'T
SARAH JAYNE HOWARD, SIMONE TROUNG, KATE HARMAN, JOSH TOMPSON, LAURIE YOUNG, GAVIN WEBBER, ALICE KELL and others WILL MOVE FROM CLASS TO CLASS, SOMETIMES GUIDING, SOMETIMES FOLLOWING.
THE FESTIVAL WILL BE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC FOR THE MORNING CLASSES, CONTINUE INTO MORE INTENSIVE RESEARCH WORKSHOPS FOR THE BARE BONES PARTICIPANTS DURING THE DAY, AND THEN IN THE EVENINGS, THE FACILITATORS WILL BE INVITED TO SHARE EXCERPTS FROM CURRENT OR PREVIOUS WORK WITHOUT THEATRICAL ARTIFICE. BY SHARING EXCERPTS DEVOID OF LIGHTING DESIGNS, SET OR OTHER TECHNICAL TRICKS, WE WILL GENERATE CONVERSATIONS ABOUT THE CORE QUESTIONS THESE ARTISTS ARE WORKING ON.
IT'S only 150 bucks, and it's HAPPENING ON THE GOLD COAST IN SUMMER, SO WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE?

In the current arts climate in Australia, artists often find themselves at the bottom of the food chain. Hear some pointers from experts in the field on how to maintain courage and operate on your own terms.
“Their teamwork was amazing, their approach to the world inspiring, and their creative processes are mind blowing.
After they visited, I couldn’t help but brag and share my experience”
Sarah Wang, Senior Student

GREENHOUSE - A YOUTH WORKSHOP BY THE FARM
Join the Gold Coast’s first professional dance company in a two day workshop in how to be a farmer. No, we’re not talking about working a plow. We’re talking dance - Farm style. The Farm have a national and international reputation for making some of Australia’s most exciting dance and physical theatre and we would like to share our knowledge, enthusiasm, dance moves, improvisation, partnering and imagination in a fun two day workshop for anyone aged 12 to 22.
This workshop will be run by The Farm’s professional performers onboard to facilitate a program ranging from improvisation to Farm repertoire in a supportive and engaging environment. It’s a great way to discover what makes The Farm tick and why our work has been seen all over the world.
GreenHouse: A Youth Workshop encourages and inspires students to be themselves and to find their own artistic voice. It starts with a warm up and investigates not only how your body moves but why. Trust is crucial so we train partnering skills (something we’re very good at!) to develop camaraderie and teamwork - hallmarks of our creative process. Improvisational games will develop the participant's own imaginations and challenge them to find their spontaneity. Finally repertoire from specific Farm productions will be referenced and taught to give a window into our reasons and enjoyment for doing what we do.
Hurry places are very limited so secure your spot at The Farm!

Yoga Chi Gung Movement
Yoga Chi Gung is a blend of teachings from India, China, Japan and Tibet mixed with the movement experience from The Farm’s Co-Director Gavin Webber. The class offers a way of unblocking life energy, increasing and condensing it and encouraging it to flow freely and smoothly. Like all internal arts, it works on catalysing self-awareness, mental clarity, emotional strength and stability, and physical vitality. It works on the systems, meridians and chakras in the body and is expressed through a fluidity of movement and the inner force of chi energy in the body.
Gavin Webber trained as a Yoga Chi Gung teacher with Grant Woolven in Brisbane and has taught yoga and dance classes all over the world. He combines his love of movement with the power and simplicity of Yoga Chi-Gung, utilising over 20 years of teaching experience, to create a profoundly beautiful way to wind up the day.
